Commitment to Sustainability

Syndicate Partnerships, in alliance with the Up2You Foundation, recently marked World Cleanup Day with a significant initiative. This event was a practical demonstration of our ongoing commitment to environmental stewardship. Employees and management came together to tackle the prevalent issue of street litter, aligning our efforts with the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Aligning with Global Goals

Our cleanup activity directly supports several SDGs:

  • SDG 12 – Responsible Consumption and Production: By actively participating in the cleanup, we are taking steps toward reducing waste and encouraging sustainable consumption.
  • SDG 13 – Climate Action: Addressing environmental degradation, our efforts contribute to a healthier ecosystem, aiding in climate change mitigation.
  • SDG 15 – Life on Land: The activity aligns with SDG 15 by aiming to preserve biodiversity and protect ecosystems from the impacts of litter and pollution.
  • SDG 17 – Partnerships for the Goals: Collaborating with the Up2You Foundation showcases the power of partnerships in achieving sustainable development.

The Cleanup Event

The event commenced around 8:30 AM at the VISAN service station in Kasabaholo, Paramaribo, Suriname, serving as our meeting point. After a brief introduction by our CSR department, participants were grouped into small teams and provided with cleaning supplies. The teams embarked on their mission, clearing litter from the streets of Kasabaholo.

During a scheduled break at 10 AM, participants were introduced to the founder of the Up2You Foundation, who provided refreshing watermelon. The company also offered coconut water and chicken sandwiches to all volunteers.

After the break, teams resumed their efforts, filling approximately 80 garbage bags in two hours. A 2-ton pickup truck, guided by management and selected employees, collected these bags from various locations.

Community Engagement and Feedback

The enthusiasm for the initiative was clear, with many volunteers inquiring about future cleanup activities. The VISAN service station, as our venue partner, provided significant support and even commemorated the event with a photograph featuring our logos. Passersby, both pedestrians and motorists, expressed their encouragement and approval of our efforts.

Collaborative Efforts and Volunteers

This successful initiative was a collaborative effort with the Up2You Foundation. Among the volunteers were one of the company’s consultants and two interns from the Netherlands.

Looking Forward

The success of this cleaning initiative has set a precedent for future environmental projects. We are encouraged by the community’s response and are eagerly planning our next endeavor.
